چکیده

Mussel-inspired, catechol-containing monomers are being increasingly utilised to design versatile, adhesive, functional copolymers. This work reports the synthesis and detailed characterisation of a novel terpolymer comprising dopamine methacrylamide (DMA), in order produce surface coatings capable acting as biosensors for, e.g., toxins. DMA is copolymerised with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) glycidyl (GMA) using free radical polymerisation. The copolymers subsequently deposited thin film spin-coating. It demonstrated that HEMA, GMA can immobilise an IgG antibody on surface. therefore has potential be used coating biosensing devices. also presence impacts copolymer properties. In-situ ellipsometry confirm important role catechol group adhesion significant desorption was observed absence DMA.

Mussel-Inspired Dopamine and Carbon Nanotube Leading to a Biocompatible Self-Rolling Conductive Hydrogel Film

We report a novel self-rolling, conductive, and biocompatible multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-dopamine-polyethylene glycol (PEG) hydrogel film. The gel can self-fold into a thin tube when it is transferred from a glass slide to an aqueous environment, regardless of the concentrations of the MWCNT. The film presents a highly organized pattern, which results from the self-assembly of hydrophili...

Enzymatically Degradable Mussel-Inspired Adhesive Hydrogel

Mussel-inspired adhesive hydrogels represent innovative candidate medical sealants or glues. In the present work, we describe an enzyme-degradable mussel-inspired adhesive hydrogel formulation, achieved by incorporating minimal elastase substrate peptide Ala-Ala into the branched poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) macromonomer structure. The system takes advantage of neutrophil elastase expression upr...

One-step modification of superhydrophobic surfaces by a mussel-inspired polymer coating.

Mussels, which are promiscuous, underwater fouling organisms, attach to virtually any natural or synthetic organic/ inorganic substrate. The major components of mussels adhesive pads include proteins that contain the unusual amino acid 3,4-dihydroxy-l-phenylalanine (DOPA). In particular, Mytilus edulis foot protein-5 (Mefp-5), a protein located at a distal side of adhesive pads that attaches to...

Mussel-inspired, perfluorinated polydopamine for self-cleaning coating on various substrates.

We designed a perfluorinated dopamine derivative, which, upon oxidative polymerization, formed a structurally rough film of extremely low surface energy on various substrates. The static water contact angles larger than 150° and the low water sliding angles less than 7° confirmed the formation of superhydrophobic, self-cleaning surfaces.
